Dr. Scott Barnes graduated from ICO, which is affiliated with the prestigious University of Chicago. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Colorado and received a degree in marketing and business administration. During his studies, Dr. Barnes spent three challenging years in the inner city of Chicago helping the under privileged. After Chicago, he volunteered to go to Alaska and travel from one remote fishing village to another, educating and treating the native Eskimo population. Before coming to Utah in 1998, Dr. Barnes completed his last rotation in Walla Walla, Washington, at the VA Medical Center. Since August of 1998 Dr. Barnes has been practicing in Salt Lake City. Prior to joining Alta View Eye Care, Dr. Barnes ran The TLC Laser Eye Centers in Utah. Dr. Barnes focused his efforts towards the treatment and management of corneal disease and refractive surgery. Dr. Barnes has been involved with over 15,000 LASIK procedures. In 2001, Dr. Barnes created a small RGP lens for the treatment of Keratoconus and Pellucid Marginal degeneration. In 2000, Dr. Barnes donated his time to the UTAH JAZZ and UTAH STARZ professional basketball teams. He provided general exams as one of the team eye doctors. Dr. Barnes has written a number of articles and speaks for many pharmaceutical companies around the country. Dr. Barnes is an avid outdoorsman and loves spending time with his two children, Keaton and Kelsey.
